If this play was -130 I would still think it were value. The Carling Cup is not always taken seriously by England's top teams who often rest star players for these matches. Fulham however will be fielding a strong side as they need wins to build momentum.

They had a tough start to the season in the Premiership but have recently found form, notably a 4-1 road victory at Newcastle a notoriously tough place to win.

Nottingham however is a very bad team. They are in a lower division than Fulham and are next to the bottom with an equally bad Rotherham. Nottingham finds it tough to score goals and tough to keep them out. They have only 2 wins despite playing some bad sides.

Fulham wins here for me and at +100 that is great value.

Nottingham Forest 1-1 Fulham

US striker Brian McBride missed an open goal for Fulham with only seconds on the clock which meant my bet was a loser.

Nottingham has played above their normal level. Fulham fielded a strong side as I predicted and should have won this match. If Nottingham somehow manages to win in overtime I will still be betting against them in the next round.

Looks like a bad start to my value picks project but I am determined to make a strong comeback.
